So my main takeaway is that even Luddites are relying on factory-made mass produced typewriters and nobody has worked out a reliable design you can homebrew with hand tools.

Giving students chatbot subscriptions is like outfitting the track team with electric mobility carts.  

It is worth noting in the midst of this moment that the kids worth a shit do indeed know the score and hate the gee-whiz LLM adoption at gunpoint as much as all sensible folk.  

Absolutely nothing would be more on brand for contemporary academia than if the students had written this -- with ChatGPT.
