I grew up basically down the road from North Oaks (in old army base housing). The roads aren't (or weren't at the time) even gated. You could drive right through. Other than keeping images published somewhere, I'm not sure why this is so impossible.

huh. That’s the same legal structure as “private” roads and streets in the U.K. where they are public you only get until your property hits the pavement (“sidewalk”).
